Gathering Bull Nettle for Teething Necklaces

On July 23, we had the opportunity to come together under the guidance of Eddie Paul to learn how to gather and prepare bull nettle for traditional teething necklaces. The sun was blazing, but we continued our efforts, thinking about the babies and their moms. A little discomfort on our end is nothing compared to what teething babies and pregnant women go through.

On July 29, The Center for Native Health hosted a Mothers Gathering at the Yellowhill Activity Center, where moms, doulas and elders came together to create bull nettle teething necklaces. Onita Bush (Mothers Council Member) and Lori Sanders (Doula) shared their knowledge about bull nettle. Dinner was provided, and the event created a beautiful space for community, tradition, and support.

These gatherings remind us of the importance of coming together as we learn, heal, and uplift each other. Thank you to everyone who joined us!
