Reflections on the Dialogues
Gathering of native science pioneers establishes a firm foundation for the Center's future work.
In early August the Center for Native Health facilitated a gathering of native science pioneers at our partner institution Western Carolina University. For two days scholars from several different native nations came together for the first time east of the Mississippi to convene a set of dialogues -- conversations about topics guided by facilitator Leroy Littlebear.
The native scholars and other participants discussed topics relating to language, health and the environment and grounded the ongoing work of the Center firmly within the perspectives of native epistemologies.
